May 12, 2016 – Technology and the Library

This month we will have something a little different. Ms Barbara Gwynn from the Charlotte Mecklenburg South County Regional Library will talk about the resources available from our local libraries and from our desks. Here it is in her words:

“I am happy to present the many benefits of having a Charlotte Mecklenburg Library card at your meeting on May 12th at 6:30pm at the BBB office in Ballantyne.  I will bring handouts. Also, is there anything in particular you would like me to cover?  I had planned on covering things like our eContent (downloadable books, magazines, music, etc.)  and databases, in addition to more traditional library fare like books and programs.”

If you haven’t been in a public library since junior high, it’s not just shelves of paper or even a place to check your email. No matter what your interest, they can help you fill it. And, although there may not be as many as there once were, there are still knowledgeable, patient, helpful, humans to aid you with your most complex or trivial request.

We will also have time for a question and answer session, so please bring your questions, issues and problems about technology with you.

Summer BBQ Picnic!

Please put our June 9 BBQ picnic on your calendar. Hopefully we chose a time that will be a little cooler and less rainy than previous years. Watch for details in the coming month as advance reservations will be required.
