PCCC General Meeting
Thursday, January 12, 2012
Pritchard Memorial Church

Our Program for January will feature a presentation on Mobile Phones: Everything You’ve Wanted to Know about SmartPhones – What’s Hot – What’s Not by Charles Canady, SmartPhone Guy in charge at Best Buy, Midtown.

I suspect everyone in the club has a cell phone of some sort. I know several of our members have already upgraded to the more sophisticated SmartPhones; however, many are still checking in on old flip or candy bar feature phones. Cell phones are evolving so rapidly that it’s truly hard to keep up let alone make an informed decision which one best fits your needs. From one month to the next the new products on display increase and get more complex.

There are so many variables to consider: $ cost of course, geographical coverage, number of calls, texts, internet usage per month, and features such as Apps, support, Bluetooth, 3G or 4G and on and on. At some point we’re all going to have to deal with these things. What are the local gurus saying, who do they like, who can support these technological marvels best? What are the best deals right now: contract phones or pay as you go? All questions that we need answers on.

We’re looking forward to hearing Charles Canady’s take on these questions and more. Charles works for Best Buy -  a retailer that represents many of the better known brands. He has been in the business for many years and manages the phone store at Midtown Best Buy.

Charles promises to be a great source of information and recommendations. Be sure to come to our January meeting to hear what he has to say.

Please join us. The PC3 meets the second Thursday of each month at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203. The meeting gets under way promptly at 7:00pm. We generally start with a Question and Answer (Q&A) session to help our members with those “Brick Wall” problems we all occasionally face. Following that we have a presentation on a topic of interest to PC or Smart Phone users and wrap up by 9:00pm.

In addition to our General Meeting at 7:00pm we get together for dinner at 5:45pm. We hold our “Eating before the Meeting” at the church or a local restaurant nearby; check to confirm. Six to ten folks generally show up, have supper and talk tech until time to start the General Meeting. When we meet at the church the club provides iced tea and cookies for desert. Anything else, pizza, burger, sandwich will have to be brought in by the participants. We suggest that everyone interested stop on their way to the meeting to buy themselves diner at the Sandwich Shop, Fuel Pizza, McDonalds, etc. and bring it with them to the church.
