I occasionally get emails with what I think are off-the-wall questions from people I've never heard of. A specific one (
http://bloghd.zaitech.com/2008/07/to-sleep-perchance-to-lose-my-thoughts.html) enticed me to dig into my website traffic logs and see how she found me. It turns out she hit on my 4-year-old article from a pretty specific Google search. When I replicated that search and another one that hit me, mine was the only relevant result on the first page.
It just goes to show that content will drive traffic, even if you don't rank in single keywords.
