John:
We address your topics frequently throughout the program year.
Last November we had a program on setting up your routers. Practically every meeting we mention online tips and sites. Hopefully every month you'll go home with some tips that are new and useful to you. We try to have a Q&A every meeting and full meeting of Q&A every year (watch for it in the summer) when you can ask your questions. Unfortunately, most computer issues are very specific to the user's particular environment and require teasing out more information that they often aren't transferable.
As far as network providers: everyone has an opinion. I'm a fan of cable because it has no setup. Others say you can't beat ATT's product. Dewey has nothing good to say about DSL except it's better than anything else available because he lives in the boonies.
"Now you've got your router set up - what do you do with your network?" is a very good suggestion. I've wanted to do a full program on file and printer sharing for a long time, but it just has not come up. That's really a hands-on demo that would have been hard to do before we had the space at Pritchard. Watch for publicity this fall.
