EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Nov. 21, 2011

President Jack LaPointe called the meeting to order at McAlister's on Park Rd. at 5:59 PM.

Those present: Jack, Dewey Williams, Webmaster; Richard Kinkel, Treasurer;  Bill Barnes, President Emeritus ; Galen Bolin, valued member and yours truly.

The previous minutes were accepted as published on the PC3 forum with the correction to the beginning time of the holiday party.

Treasurer:
Richard stated that $ 138.00, including  $ 99.00 for a mid-line KINDLE has been spent for gifts for the holiday party, so far. There may  be some small, additional charges. Richard asked for the exact amounts for checks to the chef and his assistant as well as their addresses for mailing the checks. A check for the food/church's expenses was also discussed.
Several memberships will expire in December. Those members are urged to renew timely.

Holiday Party:
The holiday party will be held on the 2nd Thursday of December, the 8th,  starting at 6:30 PM. There will be plenty of good food and conversation to be had.
Galen Bolin said that everything is set with the church and the chef. Connie LaPointe, PCCC 1st lady, will obtain decorations and center pieces for the tables.
   Prizes
The list includes a $ 99.00 Kindle Touch, 4 8Gb USB thumb drives, 5 USB hubs, assorted smaller gifts, computer related books (4 or 5), a travel mouse, and some Micorsoft tee shirts.

Community Service:

Galen noted that Love INC STILL needs your help to refurbish and assemble donated, used computers for distribution to needy families and students. He says that there will be no machines available until after the first of the year. They agreed to supply as many as they had (15 to 20) to the school system in December.
The group meets every Monday at the church starting at 9 AM.

Webmaster:
Dewey reported that the new home page is completed and up and running. A couple of issues with the networking page concerning C F & S (out of business) and Compusure (web site not found) were reported.
There have been 500-600 hits – or unique visits – per month for the past 3 months or so.
Newsletters will (continue to) be put on the web site for future reference.

Newsletter:

Bill Haney has agreed to be the new editor. Former editor, Rob  Wilson's job is now requiring more time and he can no longer be the editor.
In regard to articles from other sources, the Board's policy is that none should be simply cut and pasted for submission to the newsletter. Such items should be summarized or referred to or otherwise rewritten for use in the newsletter.
Galen learned working with the donated computers that installing Office 2003 on computers serviced by LOVE INC is possible due to the charity's license with MS. Bill will have a word processor and other applications capable of doing the work if he gets his computer worked on there. Dewey will help Bill learning the publishing software.

Programs:

December: The annual holiday party. See details above. Of course, there will be no eatin' before the meetin'. Eating is the meeting.

January: Charlie Prince with Avast Anti-virus [also malware, rootkits, etc.] contacted Jack and expressed the desire to give another presentation. He provided his schedule so that a date could be arranged. The January general meeting may be OK.

Other potential programs:

Best Buy: Presentation on smart phones and other mobile devices.
   Eddy Nivens: An Apple program.
Potpourri: Richard suggested that members give short presentations on subjects such as Boinc/Seti by myself, True Crypt by Bill B. and so forth.
Pat Davis can possibly present cool things to do with Linux.

FACEBOOK:
Everyone is encouraged to “like” and “share” items that appear on the club's Facebook page:

Eating  Before the Meeting:
As usual, all members are invited to the BYO supper at the church at 5:45 PM starting again in January. Often interesting computer talk ensues. Cookies and iced tea are provided. Using other locations for a change was discussed.

Next Board Meeting:
The next meeting of the executive board will be on Monday, December 19th via Skype.

Respectfully submitted by Paul Reiss, Secretary, PCCC.
