Aug. 14, 2014 – Music, Video and …

A Message from the Common Table
What a summer we have been having, sure it has been hot a lot, but we have had most days in the 80’s.
We have not had any days above 95 or so and no 100’s. It’s also already August and my grass is still green (all the rain we have had). Usually it is a dull green/brown, common for fescue grass in this area.
We even had a mild day for our annual July Picnic in the Park. We had Galen, Carolyn, Ted, Richard, Bill, Bill, Maryanne, Ed, Carol, Jimmy, Jenny, Cliff, Dick and Paul. That is 15 folks. We had some great BBQ and conversation. From most of the conversations I heard, not a lot of computer talk, just good old fellowship and conversation about all sorts of topics. If you did not come please come to the park with us next year. Thanks to those who paid a little extra and purchased some of the leftovers. We actually covered all the expenses and had a few dollars left over. Our treasurer is very happy.
We have a great meeting planned for this week. The topics are a potpourri of subjects. Richard will talk about and show how to get music onto your smartphone. He just got a new Samsung Centra phone from Tracfone. He will also talk about how to save money on having a smartphone. I will talk about video on your computer. Including how to capture those elusive videos that you would like to keep a copy of and there is no save as choice from the alt button click. I will also talk about what is really happening when you do a web search on your browser. I am also trying to talk a few other folk to share a short topic with us. If you have something you would like to present, please prepare your topic for about 10-15 minutes.
We will also have time for a question and answer session, so please bring your questions, issues and problems about computing with you.
I look forward to seeing all of you this week. I also want to see some of our members or guests that receive this news letter who do not come often. Coming to the meeting is the ultimate ‘Social Media’ thing you can do. Don’t just stay at home and e-mail and Facebook, come out an see real people that share a “Common” interest. If your bring your own meal, come to the meeting about 5:45 to 6:00. We have a great time “eating before the meeting”.
See you this Thursday.
